Requests for Donations

The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, Inc. invites applications from organizations undertaking projects with the involvement of (a) professional artist(s)*.  The Foundation has a small annual budget for these projects and will consider providing assistance based on; available funds, artistic merit, contribution to, or involvement of, community.

The Program:

  • All funding requests are to be made in writing following these application guidelines
  • Three months notice is preferred
  • Where appropriate, allocation of funds will be on a 50% advance and 50% post project
  • Funding from The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, Inc., in consideration of matching or other funding, must not cause the project to exceed the original fundraising goal.
  • A report on the project must be presented to The Foundation on completion of the project, utilizing a form provided by The Foundation.

Application:

Organizations are invited to submit a project summary, of no more than 5 pages, for The Foundation to review. The summary should include the following information:

  • A brief description of the organization's history, purpose, the scope of its activities, and an outline of its volunteer and professional leadership with the names of key individuals;
  • c.v.(s)  and artistic statement(s) from the artist(s) involved
  • A brief description of the proposed project and what the project specifically will accomplish ;
  • The amount of the grant request and a detailed budget for the project;
  • A list of other sources of funding or pending applications;

Recognition:

The support of The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation, Inc. is to be acknowledged in all promotional materials. The Foundation will provide successful applicants with camera-ready formats of the Foundation’s logo, along with usage guidelines.  The logo should be used on posters, brochures, print ads and programs and used where possible on media releases and signs related to the funded project.

*A professional artist is defined as someone who has
Specialised training in an artistic field

  • Produced an independent body of work
  • Made at least 3 presentations of work in a professional context in the past 5 years
  • Is recognized as such by their peers
